This piece was commissioned by the U.S. Air Force to commemorate the transition of Fairchild AFB from B-52s and Air Combat Command to an all tanker base and Air Mobility Command in 1995. I flew on several missions with the 92nd ARW and there was an actual formation flight over Mt. Rainier, although not quite as tight as you see here. The 5 aircraft represent the 5 squadrons and is a salute to the critical contribution of the tanker crews to America's global reach. Original in the collection of the U.S. Air Force.
